I missed your big day -- MFTWSC132 -- CTD250 -- & 4 other challenges

Hi Everyone!!
Today marks my blog's 3 month mark!!
WOW!  That went by quickly!

This birthday card is for my blogger friend, Darnell, who had her birthday on July 2nd.
(But, I didn't learn of this info until July 6th!!)
Her card is now in the mail and on it's way to sunny California!!

I hate that I missed her big day, so I thought a belated birthday card with my very favorite Turtle Girl would be perfect!!

Here are a few things that you didn't know about my older daughter...
When she was born she had broken collar bone as a birth trauma.
She had to wear long sleeves and have her sleeve pinned to her shirt to keep her arm down
& I'll tell ya... it was as heartbreaking as it was a pain in the butt.
Hot Carolina heat made her so unhappy in a long sleeved shirt and she would stretch and stretch her neck to try and get away from the pinned shirt, but it didn't do her any good.
She looked just like a turtle stretching it's neck out of it's shell.

That was when "Turtle Girl" was born.
She had that nickname for weeks, which turned into months and then it just stuck.
When I saw the image from Jennifer Nilsson's Doodle Garden from MFT I knew that I had to have it!
If you haven't checked out these adorable images you can find them right here @ MFT.

The Color Throwdown is celebrating it's 5 year anniversary!!
Wooooo hooooo!!!

I'm also entering this card into Marker Pop #26 and the above birthday card challenges.

  1. Sooo super sweet and it made it all that more special with the sweet story of your oldest daughter. I can see why this stamp absolutely called your name. Everything about this sweet card puts a smile on my face. I always love the details like the dienamics flower mimicking the flower in turtle girl's hair. Oh and the fine strokes you used when coloring her hair really makes it look so realistic! It's just absolutely beautiful and I'm sure that your sweet friend will be so thrilled that it will make absolutely no difference that's it's a little late! :)

    1. Thanks, Lisa!!! Yeah, I think I cried for a few hours after they told me... I really didn't want to hear that my brand new baby was already "broken" -- :( :( But, she & I both made it through & the only time I think about it is when I look @ her newborn baby pics.

  12. Bless her little heart! It hard enough to deal with southern heat without being pinned down and in pain. I'm sure Darnell will love this card. The layered flower is so cute. Hugs!
